Public Relations Account Manager

Job Description

My client is seeking a highly motivated and talented individual with a minimum of 4 – 5 years of agency experience to join their team as a Public Relations Account Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing client accounts, executing strategic PR campaigns, and maintaining strong relationships with clients and media alike.

Duties

Manage client accounts and serve as the main point of contact for all communications.
Develop and implement strategic PR campaigns to achieve client objectives and goals.
Write and develop compelling content for press releases, media pitches, and other PR materials.
Cultivate and maintain relationships with media contacts across South Africa and internationally.
Handle difficult clients professionally and tactfully, ensuring their needs are met while upholding the agency’s standards.
Work collaboratively with internal teams to brainstorm ideas, develop strategies, and execute plans effectively.
Demonstrate strong time management skills to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
Create comprehensive strategic documents independently, showcasing creative thinking and strategic insights.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree/ diploma in Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or related field.
Proven experience working in a PR agency environment, preferably in a client-facing role.
Consistent history of tenure exceeding 1.5 years at each position held

Strong understanding of PR principles and practices, including media relations, crisis communication, and reputation management.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives and persuasive pitches.
Proficiency in time management and multitasking, with the ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines efficiently.
Creative thinker with the ability to develop innovative PR strategies and solutions.
Team player with a collaborative attitude and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and client needs.
Knowledge of media landscape and contacts across South Africa and internationally.
