Sales Manager

Job Description

The Sales Manager will lead the full Sales Department, including External Sales, Online Sales, and Showroom Sales. This role is accountable for overall revenue performance and for driving the strategy, structure, and execution required to achieve growth targets.

The successful candidate will bring strong commercial insight, strategic thinking, and leadership capability to scale the sales function nationally, while ensuring operational discipline and consistent revenue growth.

Duties

Strategic Leadership & Execution

  • Take full ownership of departmental sales targets and revenue performance.

  • Develop and implement short-, medium-, and long-term sales strategies aligned with business growth.

  • Design scalable, repeatable sales processes and structure the department for national expansion.

  • Translate company objectives into clear, measurable goals and monitor metrics like conversion rates and pipeline health.

Operations & Governance

  • Implement and maintain sales standards and CRM discipline to ensure reporting accuracy.

  • Maintain pricing integrity and margin control across all channels.

  • Partner with Marketing on lead generation and coordinate with Operations, Procurement, and Logistics to ensure seamless delivery.

  • Manage departmental budgets and optimize resource allocation for cost efficiency.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Build and mentor a high-performing sales leadership team, driving a culture of accountability.

  • Identify performance gaps and implement development or succession plans.

  • Promote cross-functional collaboration to avoid departmental silos.

  • Drive a professional, customer-centric approach that aligns with company values.

Requirements

Minimum Requirements

  • Minimum 3–5 years’ experience in a sales leadership, branch management, or commercial retail management role
  • Proven experience leading and developing sales or customer-facing teams
  • Experience within a high-ticket, product-focused retail, showroom, or customer-facing environment
  • Exposure to CRM systems, reporting tools, and sales analytics
  • Strong understanding of KPI management, sales reporting, and operational execution
  • Strong administration and computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook, CRM systems)
  • Fluent in English (Afrikaans advantageous)
  • Valid South African driver’s licence

 

Industry Exposure (Advantageous)

Experience in one or more of the following environments will be beneficial:

  • Commercial equipment or solutions-based sales
  • Hospitality supply or showroom-led businesses
  • Furniture and interiors
  • Automotive dealerships
  • Technical or equipment sales
  • Building supply and trade sales
  • Lifestyle or premium retail
